10 Gothic Pattern Roundup
Welcome to another crochet pattern roundup! This week, we’re on the lookout for…
GOTH CROCHET PATTERNS
For anyone who doesn’t know me – I’m Monica Fox! I design crochet patterns with my sister in Adelaide, South Australia. We crochet for fun and to help other neurodivergent crafters/beginners learn how to read patterns.
What I love to design and make more than anything else are funny, ridiculous, and adult-themed patterns that bring a little bit of laughter and joy into this depressing world.
In this pattern roundup, I’ve included some recommendations from the crochet community, one of our own patterns, and patterns I would love to have on my hook!
1. Postmortem by Ann Wanamaker
Forget everything that you thought you knew about crochet doilies – Ann Wanamaker is here to set you straight!
Postmortem is one of a number of gothic / Halloween-themed doilies designed by creativeworksbyannie. I’ve seen this design shared many, many times, and I’m itching to make one. Imagine how cool this would be in a thicker cotton – big enough to drape over your table as a centrepiece.

2. Eyeball Blanket by CuteCreepyCrochet
This creepy Eyeball Blanket randomly came across my Facebook feed, and it’s just such a ghoulish take on the bouquet blankets that have been popular for a while.
Why make a normal, boring blanket when you can crochet roses with eyeballs?

3. Bat Wings Poncho by Fox Creations
Ever wanted to flounce around your house like a little bat? Well, the Bat Wings Cardigan will help you make all your winged fantasies come true.
The pattern is crocheted all in one piece – no seaming required! It’s like wearing a weighted blanket with arm holes.
And even better news – the pattern is 50% off until the end of April 2026 with coupon code: 50OFFBAT

4. Bonez by Sixel Designs
We couldn’t do a gothic pattern roundup without including at least one design from the queen of Overlay Mosaic!
This is one of my favourites from Sixel Designs – Bonez! She also has a blanket pattern with lots of skulls and skeletons.
If you want to learn this technique, I couldn’t recommend Sixel Designs more. Check out her free tutorial and YouTube videos.

5. Prometheus the Light Soul by greyvisionscreations
This plushy candle amigurumi is giving me Edgar Allen Poe vibes!
I am loving the details in the clothes and face for Prometheus the Light Soul.
greyvisionscreations says, “I’ve created him with the intent of having him be an image of light and kindness, in a world where right now maybe not everyone is so kind to each other, he represents the light and the soul in every one of us.”

6. Hedgewitch Hat by Morale Fiber (FREE)
If you’ve been around the crochet groups, you have probably seen the Hedgewitch Hat by Morale Fibre many, many times.
This perfect little witch hat can be easily adjusted to your style with a change of colour. I can’t believe that I’ve never crocheted one, but I intend to fix that this year!

7. Cool Tree Wall-hanging by Divine Debris (FREE)
If you’re looking for something gothic to spooky up your home, how about this Cool Tree Wall-hanging?
The best thing about tapestry is that you can adjust the colours to suit your decor. You could also use the panel as a bag or pillow!

8. Craniumania by alice.in.crochetland
I’ve had my eye on the Craniumania crochet sweater pattern by alice.in.crochetland for ages. Made in all black, this will be the perfect Autumn / Spring sweater for Adelaide weather. I already have the pattern and the yarn – I just need the time!
It’s important to note that Alice’s pictures are often used in scams, so make sure you’re buying directly from her website or Ravelry.

Who wouldn’t want a Ravens inLOVE Potholder? You can bring the gothic aesthetic into all the rooms of your home – even the kitchen.
These gorgeous potholders were suggested on Facebook, and I adore them! Ravens are one of my favourite birds. These would also make perfect washcloths.
Socials: I can’t find any socials for PawsandPatterns, but feel free to message me with the link!
10. Fancy Bones by Restless Hooks
I love when the Fancy Bones cardigan by Restless Hooks comes across my feed.
It’s rare to see cables in crochet, but how gorgeous are they when done well? I would love to see this design in red. Maybe I need to make one…
